I arrived at St. Eugene in the late afternoon, when the light over the Cranbrook valley had already gone soft. The drive in felt unhurried — Mission Road opening onto grounds that sit just outside town, quiet enough that the first thing I noticed was birdsong rather than traffic. Checking in was straightforward, and the staff greeting set a tone that stayed consistent through my overnight.
My room was spacious, with a balcony and high ceilings that made the space feel taller than many mid-scale resort rooms I have stayed in. It was clean on arrival, quiet at night, and comfortable enough that I slept without the usual highway hum. The balcony was the detail I used most — a place to stand with coffee and look out over the property before heading downstairs.
Staff were friendly and helpful whenever I asked a question, from directions around the grounds to restaurant hours. Food options on the golf side felt limited during my shoulder-season visit, and drink service hours were shorter than peak summer — something other guests have noted as well. The attached casino, by contrast, had a livelier dining scene and a broader selection at breakfast. I did not come primarily to gamble, but the casino floor was easy to navigate and clearly part of the property's rhythm.
This is a stay for travellers who want quiet scenery outside Cranbrook, room to stretch out, and a property with history woven into the buildings. It suits couples and leisure guests more than anyone chasing a dense urban hotel scene. If you care about late-night dining variety on quiet weeks, plan ahead — the casino restaurants carry more of that load when the golf side winds down.
I would return for the calm, the space in the rooms, and the sense that the property takes its setting seriously. It is not a flashy city resort; it is a grounded overnight with character.

Just outside Cranbrook, the grounds feel calm — a recurring theme in recent reviews.
High ceilings, balconies, and comfortable rooms come up often in five-star guest notes.
When golf-course food hours shrink in shoulder season, the casino side still offers solid options.
Cleanliness and comfort are among the most consistent compliments across guest feedback.
Several travellers describe the visit as rich in local history and atmosphere.
St. Eugene earns its place on a British Columbia itinerary when you want a four-star overnight that feels removed from the highway without feeling isolated. The property pairs quiet rooms with on-site gaming and dining, and the guest record backs up the warmth of the welcome.
Rooms were a bit small for the price but overall quiet location. Disappointed that there was minimal food options at the golf course and the hours were limited for drinks due to shoulder season. Staff were friendly. Casino attached had great food options with great prices! Breakfast also had good selection and choices.
My first time here this week. I really like this hotel. The rooms are nice with a balcony and high ceilings. Super clean. Its very quiet with nice scenery just outside Cranbrook. Staff are helpful. There is a casino and a restaurant here as well. The restaurant makes a good burger. I would highly recommend staying here.
Room was huge. Staff is super friendly, and the property is so beautiful. If you ever get a chance to visit, take it. The Casino is lots of fun and the food is delicious. If I could give it a higher rating I would.

This was a real treat and a historical visit. The hotel is filled with rich history and very somber accounts. The rooms were spacious, quiet and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Room was very clean and comfortable. Casino had a good variety of machines. Enjoyed our stay and will definitely return when in the area again.
We didn't stay there but the golf course is great. Also has a nice casino.
